The current government of Nepal has established a task force to develop a new and comprehensive IDP Policy. A draft policy has been shared with the UN who has provided written comments. It is essential that the new policy is in line with international standards and it is particularly important that the new policy recognizes that in Nepal people have been displaced by both sides of the conflict. There is a pressing need for implementation and clear operational instructions and sufficient resources must be given to assist those who wish to return. The UN is ready to continue to provide technical input as soon as requested by the Government.
