The United Nations Country Team (UNCT) in Nepal has several internal and external coordination mechanisms to ensure collaboration in development and humanitarian issues. Several UN inter-agency coordination mechanisms ensure complementary actions and promote the UN coherence in programme and operational matters. The key tool in its coordination efforts is the UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF).
To become more efficient and support cost-effective coordination efforts, the UNCT has undertaken a number of initiatives including the UN House that hosts six of the agencies.

The United Nations Country Team in Nepal meets regularly and ensures UN System interventions are in line with the national need and complements with work of other development partners in the country. The UNCT comprises of:

  • 19 Resident UN funds, Programmes and Specialized Agencies (FAO, IFAD, IOM, ILO, UNHABITAT, UNAIDS, UNDP, UNDSS, UNESCO, UNFPA, UNHCR, UNIC, UNICEF, UNWOMEN, UNODC, WFP, WHO, UNV and UNCDF);
  • 10 Non-Resident agencies (IAEA, ITC, ITU, OHCHR, UNCTAD, UNEP, UNESCAP, UNICTRAL, UNIDO and World Tourism Organization);
